The new simple…
Simple is beautiful…elegant…timeless…a classic as one would say.
Breaking the norms and rules for standards of beauty has been the trending topic of 2020… with high fashion brands changing up the marketing tactics with influencers to advertise for them rather than prestige, high end models. The modelling industry has changed, with Versace introducing the all-inclusive runway show with different body shapes, different races and different forms of beauty entering the runway. Elegance to me, is a simple white dress with a small pearl necklace…however, that isn’t, “making the cut” for me right now. Why not change up fashion the way the models are changing up the game and have no rules to fashion! Poka dotted print with bright colours, diagonal prints mixed in with vibrant jeans. That sounds like a recipe for disaster…but have you tried it?
What if I told you a velvet black dress, with detailing of sun moon and stars on it, with stockings that have rainbow beads all over them, different colour of beads than the velvet embroider dress. Lets slap on some chunky platform Dr.Martens as well! Too much contrast and textures going on right? But have you tried? What if it looks editorial, what if it looks unique and appealing to the eye? What if… And what if you loved it! And you felt like the most confident person in the world! And what if you hate it? Who cares really, fashion is for you and how it makes you feel, take it off and try again if it is not appealing to you! But trying out new fashion and making YOUR OWN TRENDS is the new trendsetter!
The industry is changing, we are improving as a culture, so lets make fashion whatever we want it to be! Lets make it trendy, lets make it weird! Lets make patterns on pattern a THING! I hope you get to play with the things in your closet that are waiting to be taken off the hangers, and I hope you make new fashion statements yourself.
